“Our first duty is to the children of our own community … if we are to build a better America tomorrow it is with the children on our doorsteps today.”
Junior Auxiliary of Ruston is a group of women who desire to make a lasting difference in Lincoln Parish and the Ruston community by meeting the needs of its citizens, especially children. The chapter was founded in 1981 and received a charter from the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA) in 1983. NAJA is a non-profit organization founded in 1941. It has more than 15,000 active, associate and life members in 93 chapters in 8 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee).
Our chapter administers many hands-on projects that embody the organization's slogan: "Care Today - Character Tomorrow". Some of the chapter’s larger projects include Christmas Clearinghouse which pairs children in need with community sponsors so that each child receives a gift of clothing and/or food; Preschool Puppets “Kindness Matters” teaches children to treat others with kindness and respect; Visit with St. Nick/Peter Cottontail distributes children's books to kindergartners at all public schools. The Pediatric Health Fair provides information and free screenings to area families. Stuff that Bus is an annual school supply and uniform drive.
The chapter currently has 35 active members but more are needed! For more information about joining Junior Auxiliary of Ruston, come see us on July 8th at the Lincoln Parish Library for an informational meet & greet!
