    Five miles west of Ruston in the city of Grambling is Grambling State University, one of the best known Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the United States.

    GSU is home to more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Founded in 1901, Grambling is state supported and is located on a 590-acre campus. A member of the University of Louisiana System, GSU is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and offers 42 degree programs in four degree-granting colleges plus an honors college and a graduate school. Grambling State was the first in the nation to offer a doctoral program in developmental education.

    The university is one of the country’s top producers of African American graduatesIt is the home of the internationally renowned World Famed Tiger Marching Band, nationally respected STEM programs and one of the “winningest” coaches in college football history, the legendary football coach Eddie G. Robinson Sr., whose tenure is memorialized in a campus museum, funded and operated by the state of Louisiana.

    You can choose a program that prepares you to immediately enter the workforce or one that prepares you to transfer to a four year university. Louisiana Delta offers dual enrollment courses for high school students at a reduced rate so that they can get a jump start on college.

    Maybe you didn’t have the opportunity to finish high school or don’t have much formal education. Delta offers GED and literacy programs at many locations throughout Northeast Louisiana. Want to learn English as a second language? They have programs for you as well.
